Process control hinges on proper functioning of plant equipment. Treatment plants must operate in highly corrosive environments and unwanted materials entering the waste stream can upset the operation of mechanical equipment. In addition, many plants are often not attended by full-time operating personnel. Despite these restrictions plants are expected to deliver treated effluent which, under all circumstances, must comply with stringent discharge requirements.
